Great news for Knowsley pupils who are considering their next steps – A Levels will be available at Knowsley Community College from September 2018 as today the College has announced the launch of a dedicated A Level Academy.
The re-introduction of A Levels is one of several benefits expected to be created by the imminent merger between St Helens College and Knowsley Community College, enabling the merged college group to be responsive to the needs of the community as well as enabling residents to have access to a quality, local provider.
Knowsley Community College recently moved to a new £32 million main campus on Stockbridge Lane in Huyton which will be the home of this new A Level Academy offering a range of A Level choices. The A Level Academy offers a direct route to university, employment or a higher apprenticeship.
Cllr Joan Lilly, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said “I’m delighted that A Levels will be available locally from September for our residents. We have always been committed to ensuring that people growing up in Knowsley can, if they choose, have the option of studying for A Levels with a high quality provider, close to home. This is great news for the borough and is just the start as our discussions with the government continue on further A Level provision being made available in Knowsley in future years.”
The A Level Academy is equipped with a study zone, suites of computers and social areas. Tutors are academics, experts in their fields with strong employer links.
At the heart of the A Level offer is an exclusive Professional Skills Programme. Three unique routes which are a carefully selected blend of two A Level subjects plus a practical vocational qualification, created to stretch and maximise students potential.
