Any parent knows it can be difficult to encourage your children away from the tablet screen or games console.
But help is at hand now the 10 Minutes Shake Ups programme is back, full of fun ideas to help you inspire your children to get active this summer!
New Shake Ups from Change4Life with Disney and Sport England will be released each week over the school summer holidays.
Featuring characters from Disney Pixar’s latest animation Cars 3, as well as Moana, Frozen Fever, Zootropolis, Beauty and the Beast and The Lodge the shake ups are guaranteed to make your children want to get up and moving along with their favourite Disney characters.
New for this year, the 10 Minute Shake Ups will focus on core skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching and balance and can be completed throughout the day.
Why 10 minute bursts of activity?
Every 10 minute burst of exercise can make a real difference in helping children reach the 60 minutes they need each day.
Being active helps children to build social skills, boost self-confidence and mental wellbeing, and improve bone and heart health.
The 10 Minute Shake Ups with Disney also aim to inspire longer term activity among children, promoting healthy habits all year round.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Public Health, Wellbeing and Customer Services, said:
“It can be a challenge to keep the children entertained over the long school summer holidays but the 10 Minutes Shake Up campaign has some really great ideas and games to help bust the boredom and encourage children to get up, get active and have fun this summer.”
