Parents looking for ways to keep your children entertained over the school summer holidays should check out the exciting programme of free activiites in Knowsley’s libraries.
With a variety of sessions from crafts and professional story telling to magic shows and Zoolab minibeasts, there’s something for children of all ages.
Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge
The exciting programme launches with special events in all of Knowsley’s libraries to promote the summer reading challenge. This year is all about ‘Mischief Makers’ inspired by the much-loved iconic children’s title Beano. Children signing up will join Dennis and his Beanotown buddies for a summer of reading fun!
Open to all primary school aged children of all reading abilities the Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to read any six library books of their choice during the summer holidays.
There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way as your child becomes a Mischief Maker too! There’s a certificate for everyone who completes the challenge which runs in Knowsley’s libraries until Saturday 15 September.
Mischief Makers and much more
Staying with Mischief Making there are lots of Beano related activities in the libraries including comic crafts, treasure hunts and storytelling with professional storyteller Susanna Meese.
Zoolab ‘Motley Zoo’ sessions are full of fascinating facts about millipedes, snakes, lizards and many more – and, if you’re brave enough, you might even get the chance to hold one of the minibeasts! Meanwhile, The Magic Philip Fun Show promises a roller coast ride of comedy, fun, laughter and of course lots of magic!
There will also be virtual reality headset experiences and fun, creative worskhops.
