Huyton’s first ever Foodie Friday event has ignited community spirit here in Knowsley.
The event, which takes place on Friday, 15 June from 4.30pm until 8pm in Huyton Village, brings street food, craft ales and live entertainment together for work colleagues, friends and family to enjoy.
A number of local companies, including Bexleys and the Body Branch, are joining other street food outlets such as Pizza Peddlers and Som Tam Street, to put on a fantastic array of delights. Live entertainment and things to keep the kids happy such as bouncy slides and face painting will also be available.
As well as those selling at the event, other companies are pledging their support for the event by donating products for staff setting up the event. One example includes Alder Spring, based in Cronton Knowsley, who have donated water bottles for those setting up at the event. The family-run business was established in 2002 and supplies water to the borough’s schools, regional stores as well as national music festivals. In addition, Joe’s stall – a regular trader in Huyton Village – has donated punch balloons to keep the children entertained on the night.
Sharon Morphet, Manager at Alder Springs, said “Foodie Friday is a great initiative and as a local business, we are more than happy to donate our products and support the Council to promote Huyton village centre. I’m sure the event will be a huge success.”
Councillor Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council added, “I’m delighted with the interest we’ve had from local businesses wanted to get involved with Foodie Friday. It’s a great example of Knowsley Better Together – bringing people and organisations together for the benefit of those who live, work or visit the borough.”
