Knowsley Council has started work to improve the M62 Junction 5 Bowring Park exit slip road.
This junction is a key route into and out of Knowsley and Liverpool and the improvements will help to support the volume of traffic using the roundabout.
The slip road, which is currently just one lane, will be widened to provide two lanes and new traffic signals will also be installed.
The improvements will help to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at the busy junction and will also provide a safe crossing place for pedestrian and cyclists.
Location and connectivity
Cllr Andy Moorhead, Leader of Knowsley Council said:
“The M62 is key route for people driving into and out of Knowsley, Liverpool and Manchester and these improvements will help to make journeys much easier and faster for people.
Knowsley’s location and connectivity is a major factor when attracting new residents and new businesses into the borough. It is vital that our highway network continues to support these residents and businesses and also supports our ambitious growth plans to attract more people to live, work, and invest here.”
The improvement work started on 15 January and will continue until 2 March 2018.
During the works there will be two complete road closures of the westbound exit slip road. The road will be closed on the following weekends:
· 8pm Friday 16 February until 5am Monday 19 February
· 8pm Friday 23 February until 5am Monday 26 February
