Work to improve the footpath and road on Pennywood Drive in Whiston has started.
A number of enhancements will be made as part of the scheme. These include:
- Replacing the existing flagstones, which are in a poor condition, with a long lasting, high quality tarmac. The tarmac is less prone to becoming uneven and becoming a trip hazard.
- New trees will be planted to improve the appearance of the area and reduce the number of bollards along the road.
- A number of new off-road parking spaces will be established to help address the increase in demand for parking.
- The raised junction tables (speed tables) will also be resurfaced.
The alterations will also help to improve conditions for walking and cyclists, adding to Knowsley’s sustainable transports network.
Work started on Monday 5 March and is expected to continue for 6 weeks. It is funded by the Liverpool City Region’s Sustainable Transport Enhancements Programme.
