Knowsley Community College is excited to announce the launch of a new FREE bus service, aiming to improve connectivity and make the college more accessible for students who live longer distances away but still choose to study there.
The two new routes will cover areas including Maghull, Kirkby, Halewood and South Liverpool will help students living in these areas, to commute to college.
The new, free buses will be exclusively for students who attend Knowsley Community College and will complement the existing support already in place which includes a free Merseytravel bus pass for those who live 1 mile away from the campus. This bus pass can be used for the full academic year which can be used during term time, including evenings.
Julia Callaghan, Director of Customer Relations said, “We undertook research with existing students and new applicants to identify where these routes would be most appropriately placed. We care about our students and their travel times and ease of access is important to us so the introduction of this new bus should alleviate any barriers that are currently faced.” Julia added, “By removing travel barriers, we are enabling students to have more choice when it comes to their next steps after school. Thus, widening the pool of sixth form and college providers that they can choose from.”
Both bus routes will stop at the impressive £32million Stockbridge Lane Campus and will be scheduled to complement timetables. The scheme launches in September 2017 with bus timetable information available at upcoming enrolment events in August.
