In January (2018) Knowsley Council’s Cabinet agreed, in principle, the proposal to establish a charitable trust to manage and maintain the borough’s parks and green spaces from April 2019.
At the time this proposal was agreed, it was also set out that further work would now be undertaken in order to fully test out the practical and financial viability of these proposals. This work has now commenced with the intention that the Sustainable Borough Scrutiny Committee (in Summer 2018) and subsequently the Council’s Cabinet will be able to consider this additional information and detail. It is the Council’s Cabinet that will make a final decision on this matter in November 2018.
Given the significance and importance of this decision for Knowsley, the Council has formally set out the work its officers will be undertaking in the coming months to ensure its process in testing these proposals is both comprehensive and transparent.
