If you live in Knowsley and you’ve applied for a place at primary school for your son or daughter starting this September, you will hear which place they have been offered today (Monday, April 16) or in the coming days (depending on how you applied).
When will I be told which school place my child has been given?
If you applied online, you will be notified by email which you should receive sometime today, followed by a letter in the post (also posted today). Please ensure you check your spam and junk mail folders. If you’re email hasn’t come through, you can log on to the parent portal to see what school has been allocated to your child.
If you applied by post your offer letter will be posted to you today – meaning that it should arrive by this Thursday (April 19).
If I am happy with my child’s offered place, do I need to do anything else?
If you live in Knowsley and have been offered a Knowsley school you do not need to formally accept the place. However if you no longer require the place you should contact a member of the school admissions team to let them know.
If you live in Knowsley and the offer is for a school in another authority that authority may require acceptance, and this will be stated in the offer letter.
If the school offered is in Knowsley the school will write directly to you soon with a welcome letter. At that point they may ask you to sign and return a form to accept the offer.
I am not happy with the place my child has been allocated. What should I do?
If you are not happy with the place offered to your child you can contact the school admissions team and request a change of preference application. Where places are still available then an offer could be made to your child.
If your child is not offered a place at one of their first preferences they will receive a letter giving more details about the appeals process. If he or she is refused a place at a Knowsley primary school, they will be automatically placed on a waiting list and may move up and down this list as other applicants choose whether to accept places at this or other schools.

I have not yet had my email or letter. What should I do?
If you applied online through the Knowsley website you should receive an email sometime today confirming which school your child has been offered a place at. If you applied by post your child’s school place offer will be sent back by post. This will only be posted out on primary school offer day – April 16. Please allow a few days for it to arrive. If it has not arrived by Thursday, April 19, please contact the school admissions team who will need to ask you some security questions before confirming your child’s offer. Please note that the team will not be able to advise you about your child’s place by telephone before April 19.
I’m trying to call the school admissions team but can’t get through
On the day that school offers are sent to parents and in the following days the school admissions team does receive a large number of calls and you may experience some problems getting through. If you are able to email your query to email@example.com and your contact details (including telephone number) the team will get in contact with you as soon as they are able to.
We have moved house since applying for a school place and want to change our preferences. What should we do?
Contact the school admissions team and let them know your change in circumstances. They will advise you about how to request a place at an alternative school.
How do I appeal for a school that I have been refused a place at? Who should I contact?
If you have been refused a primary community school in Knowsley and wish to appeal this decision, you should contact Knowsley school admissions team and ask for a set of appeal papers. If you have been refused a place at a Knowsley voluntary aided Catholic school you should contact the Liverpool Archdiocese on 0151 522 1071. They will send you a set of appeal papers. If you have been refused a place at a Knowsley Church of England primary school you should contact the school directly and they will confirm their appeal procedure.
If you have been refused a school in another authority you will need to initially contact that local authority for details on their appeals process. More information regarding the appeals process will be supplied with the offer letter.
