Approved Driving Instructors are invited to attend an award winning programme, Engage, which aims to reduce road traffic collisions involving young and inexperienced drivers.
The programme is classroom based and runs over two days. It supports driving instructors to further develop their vital client-centred learning (CCL) skills that are required to meet the new DVSA standards.
Client-centred learning is an educational approach that takes into account how people such as your clients prefer to learn. This way, you can teach them in a way that is better for them, learn how find out what is getting in the way of their progress and learn what you can do to help. Teaching in a way that your clients prefer to learn will help them retain information and skills.
The Engage programme is designed to help you to understand the high levels of the ‘Goals for Driver Education’ as well as develop your coaching ability. Completing the course should also enable you to deliver eight micro-lessons to your pupils covering the importance of speed choices, seatbelt wearing and self-evaluation, and the dangers of fatigue, distractions, drugs/medication, using phones and drinking alcohol.
