Community-minded locals are invited to join a neighbourhood day of action in Swanside on Tuesday, 5 June, 9am to 3.30pm.
Local residents will join forces with community leaders, local businesses and council staff to stage make-overs at St Bart’s Churchyard and the Age UK Roby Community Hub at Merton Crescent. The team at St Barts will be clearing undergrowth from the churchyard, levelling off the ground, planting a hedgerow, pruning bushes and reinstating a war headstone currently hidden under a hedge.
Meanwhile the volunteers at Age UK Roby Community Hub will be tidying up the grounds, planting, painting the perimeter fence and creating a wetland area. Anyone wanting to attend the events is asked to bring along a paint brush or spade and meet at St Barts Churchyard at 9am.
These latest events are also supported by a £1,500 grant from Knowsley Council’s Environmental Challenge Fund and follow successful community action days last year when clear up work got underway at both sites.
