A meeting of full Council took place on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 6pm.
All the papers for the meeting can be viewed on the council’s website, but here’s a quick summary of what was on the agenda:
Council Tax base
Members agreed Knowsley’s Council Tax base for 2018/19. This is defined as the number of Band D equivalent properties in the borough and has increased by almost 1,000 properties since last year. This information will now be used as part of the budget-setting process for 2018/19. The budget will be agreed at a special meeting on Wednesday 7 March 2018.
Community Governance Review
On 20 September 2017, Council agreed to undertake a Community Governance review of town and parish councils. The first phase of consultation commenced on 29 September and ran until 10 November 2017. Council was updated on the findings from this first phase of consultation and the next steps in the Governance Review process.
Notice of Motion
Council will agreed a Notice of Motion, proposed by Cllr Andy Moorhead, to adopt the definition of antisemitism as set out by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, along with a pledge to combat this form of racism.
Public and Members’ Question Time
A number of questions were put forward relating to Knowsley’s approach to the future funding and maintenance of the borough’s parks and green spaces.
