The Christmas season is just around the corner! As well as the family time and presents, festive events in the run up to the big day are what makes Christmas so special and joyous.
Here’s what’s going on in Knowsley during the festive season….
Huyton’s Christmas light switch on
November’s Foodie Friday will take place at the same time as this year’s Christmas light switch on in Huyton Village! It’ll be the event not to miss in Huyton.
At Foodie Friday, you’ll be able to enjoy the usual great street food, craft ale and live entertainment.
The lights will be bigger and better than ever thanks to partnership between the council and Knowsley Housing Trust.
Foodie Friday is on Friday 16 November from 4.30pm to 8pm and the light switch on event will start from 6.30pm
Kirkby’s Christmas lights switch on
The rumours have been cleared up! There will be a Christmas light switch on event in Newtown Gardens, Kirkby Town Centre on Thursday 22 November between 4pm and 7pm.
It’s free to attend and classic nineties/noughties front woman Edele from B*Witched will be there as well as Dave Finnegan’s Commitments and Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall.
Knowsley Safari’s enchanted
Enchanted is a magical new experience at Knowsley Safari which involves a beautiful light safari of animal sculptures, fairground rides and street performers.
Children will also have the opportunity to meet Father Christmas and receive a gift.
Tickets for children to visit the light safari and meet Father Christmas is £14 but £7.50 for just the light safari.
Children under three can go for free or meet Father Christmas for £6.50.
Adults can join in the magical experience for £5.
Enchanted runs from 23 November until 23 December from 4pm to 8pm

Innovate Volunteering are organising a Christmas fayre with Christmas stalls as well as a Santa’s grotto, crafts and a Christmas light switch-on.
Come to Bryer Road Community Centre on Bryer Road, Prescot L35 5DW on Friday 30 November from 6pm to 9pm!
Mayor of Prescot’s Charity Christmas Concert
At the concert, you will be treated to music from Allerton Brass Quintet, Evelyn Community Primary School and Staff Choirs, St Mary and St Paul’s Primary School Choir, Prescot Parish Church Choir, and Knowsley Ladies Choir.
You’ll listen to Christmas favourites, get involved with sing-a-long carols and enjoy festive refreshments!
The charity Christmas concert is at Prescot Parish Church, Church Street, Prescot L34 1LA on Thursday 6 December from 7pm to 8.15pm
Tickets are £5 on the door with accompanied under 16s going free and all proceeds are donated to the Mayor of Prescot’s charities including Whiston Hospital and local community groups.
Prescot’s Christmas lights switch on
Expect live music and dance performances, a chocolate giveaway, a children’s ride, and more!
This year, the lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Prescot and Leah Whitehead who has been named Citizen of the Year.
Don’t miss the festive fun on Eccleston Street, Prescot on Saturday 1 December from 3.30pm to 5.30pm
A ‘family funday’ is happening at Northwood Community Centre, Gilescroft Avenue, Kirkby L33 9TW on Saturday 8 December from 10am to 2pm
Come along for plenty of activities including a tombola, hook-a-duck, a bake sale, face painting, a Santa’s grotto, and more.
Enjoy festive fun for all the family and take part in a tinsel trail and decoration workshops. You can also take a visit to Santa’s grotto, get your face painted and more.

Christmas at Acorn Farm
Father Christmas will be visiting Acorn Farm and will be bringing along his trusty elves. Children will be able to meet the big man, have him listen to their wishes and be given a gift to take home.
Don’t miss Father Christmas when he will be at the farm on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 December from 12pm to 3pm
Entrance to the grotto is £6 per child which includes a gift. Entrance to the farm is £2 for children and £3 for adults with babies under one going in for free.
Tickets for the grotto can can be bought in advance from the farm shop.
