This Foster Care Fortnight (8th -21st May), Knowsley Council’s fostering service are appealing to local people who think they have what it takes to make a difference to a local child’s life.
If you love children and young people have plenty of time, care and patience to offer, as well as room in your home, fostering could be right for you.
Peter Murphy, Assistant Executive Director of Children’s Social Care said:
“Foster carers hold a very special place at the heart of our community.
“They are amazing people who provide a loving home for some of our most vulnerable children.
“Currently we don’t have enough foster carers in Knowsley to look after our children. There are many myths about being a foster carer such as you need to be in a couple, or that there is an age limit. This isn’t true, foster carers come from all sorts of backgrounds, what matters is the support you can offer a child.
“If you have been thinking about fostering and want to find out more about how you can make a difference we would encourage you as part of Foster Care Fortnight to get in touch with Knowsley’s Fostering Service to find out more.”
The Foster for Knowsley team will be out and about in the borough during Foster Care Fortnight with information about how to become a foster carer, and whether it could be right for you and your family.
You will find them on the following days:
Thursday 11th May, 11am – 1pm at Knowsley Safari Park.
Friday 12th May, 11am – 2pm at Prescot Town Centre.
Saturday 13th May, 10am – 12noon at Huyton Library, Civic Way, Huyton, L36 9GD.
